‘An incandescent fusion of raspberry and leather creates an ode to light. A golden ray, a starlit sky, the aurora borealis: light contributes to the magic of travel. To capture its incandescence, Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud sought a colour to weave into this theme. On a visit to one of Louis Vuitton’s leather ateliers, he saw a craftsman transforming raspberry-coloured leather into a luxurious bag. The skin as bright as ripe fruit gave him an idea: to associate the scent of leather with that of the berry. He shaped the composition with osmanthus, a white flower with an animal and apricot scent, iris and saffron. Mille Feux is like an emotional bombshell that explodes like fireworks.’ – Louis Vuitton
Mille Feux is one of the 2016 releases, when Louis Vuitton first released their Les Parfums line (alongside Apogée, Contre Moi, Dans La Peau, Matiere Noire, Rose Des Vents & Turbulences).
Mille Feux is pleasant to me and it has a bit more of a kick than most newer Louis Vuitton releases. It’s a super-fruity take on a Tuscan Leather-esque DNA. It fits in the raspberry-saffron genre of leathers, so it’s not quite original.
People compare this to Oman Luxury Paramour, but that one is overly sugary, whereas I feel like Mille Feux develops into a more interesting direction. I get slightly feminine leaning, floral tinge (perhaps rose and jasmine being stronger than I initially gave it credit for). It also goes a bit powdery.
This could’ve been Tuscan Leather’s flanker for women or a mix of that and Dior Gris Dior.
