Seeing the label drawing, the color of the juice and the packaging instantly made my day…but how does it smell?

On hand I like tea-based fragrances, on the other hand, I’m pretty much allergic to very green fragrances and Meadow Tea hovers in between.

It opens bright, but also spicy to my nose. I don’t see spices listed, but it’s faintly peppery and herbal; celery-esque. There’s a green citrus tinge from the lemongrass and I presume the lindenblossom.

Rather quickly a resinous, smoky tea accord takes over and it’s an interesting one. It’s green herbal tea, but very bitter. There’s a tobacco-like smokiness. This is not a light, watery or ozonic tea scent; it’s more in the general direction of Masque Milano Russian Tea.

However, the final major component takes it in a completely different direction than the Masque (which has a lot of sweet raspberry and suede). What offsets the tea here is a dry vanilla and honey sweetness. It’s almost powdery, but smooth, buttery and thick and it reminds me of the work of Francesca Bianchi. If you tell me that Meadow Tea contains orris, I’ll believe it (it doesn’t as far as I know). Replace the patchouli in Bianchi’s Sticky Fingers with tea and make it less heavy and less sweet and that’s about the best way that I can compare anything to Meadow Tea.

I’m impressed by this brand so far. Everything from the presentation, to the scent profile and the quality of materials used seems to be top notch. Meadow Tea might be a shade too green for my usual taste, but I can appreciate it.
