What I can say about Magenta Tanzanite is that, a. it’s excellent, b. it’s exactly what the notes suggest and… perhaps, I expected something a bit more unique.

In the opening you get the cardamom and cinnamon quite strongly; very spicy first hour. Overall, this scent follows closely in the footsteps of Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme; spicy opening, sweet tobacco drydown that reminds me of a slightly more bitter Parfums de Marly Herod.

I don’t get as much coffee on skin as I did in store. It has a slightly bitter and nutty tinge throughout, but had you told me this was all spices, vanilla and tobacco, I would not have questioned it either.

It’s a great combination though; one of my favorite layering combinations ever is Herod mixed with a bit of Akro Awake and that actually ends up rather similar to Magenta Tanzanite. The Armani might suit women better than any of the others mentioned. Probably my favorite Armani that I’ve smelled so far.

This is a scent profile that I love, but the idea that it is a must-have has faded, because I do own the aforementioned alternatives.
