Madame Rochas was first released in 1960 by Guy Robert. It was reformulated in 1989 by Jean-Louis Sieuzac & Jacques Fraysse.
After my less than fortunate encounter with Femme Rochas, I was glad to dive into the easier Madame next.
I’m not 100% sure what version I have. It’s an older bottle and I’m pretty confident it’s the 1989 version. I assume it’s the EDT, but I could be wrong on that part.
Madame Rochas opened very floral. For am moment I was picturing a warm, golden hue to a watery rose. Within minutes it became cooler and more green.
It becomes a green, almost aromatic, floral with a light, but persistent peachiness surrounding it.
In the base you find a nice quality light sandalwood, similar to the base I get from Miss Dior EDT. I’ve seen the two compared in general, but for me, Miss Dior is a lot heavier, whereas Madame Rochas becomes quite soapy.
It’s very pleasant; perhaps a tad on the safe and generic side, especially in the soapy peachy drydown.
