‘Among ancient civilizations, the Egyptian one is certainly one of the most fascinating. A well-expressed example of its greatness is the city of Luxor. Luxor by Xerjoff is an oriental and fresh perfume that evokes the splendour of a civilization, which still enchants us with the beauty of its forms, colours and paintings. Cinnamon and ceylon, leather, incense, Cedarwood, tobacco & myrrh, patchouli, a mixture of Cambodian and Thai oud, Indian cypriol, and cardamom, are the elements that together make Luxor an essence able to enrich our olfactory experience, guiding us into new, stimulating universes, inspiring ever new, intense emotions.’ – Xerjoff
Luxor is one of those sweet, but also cold incense fragrances to me, which is an interesting combination. It reminds me of Nakuna Musta and Matiere Premiere Encens Suave for example.
Tar-like tobacco and mostly sweet resins. In the opening the cinnamon and cardamom pop, but it’s all about the incense and myrrh for me after that settles. Thai and Cambodian ouds are listed in the notes and you do get some of the sweet woodiness pushing through, but it’s subtle.
Definitely an interesting and somewhat underrated fragrance from Xerjoff in my opinion.
