‘Naughty notes of lipstick and latex entwine with soft rose, energising sichuan pepper and courage-enhancing orris to cast Ludatrix’s enticing and empowered spell. Tantalising ambrette for igniting arousal is layered with voluptuous cedarwood, sandalwood and olibanum for positivity and protection, while a potent blend of ambrox and musk sparks sensuality. Bold and boundless desire, bottled.’ – Vyrao
After smelling Ludatrix in store, I had high expectations. Whereas the other side of the duo Ludeaux didn’t speak to me at all (candied artificial peachy first impression), Ludatrix seemed right up my alley.
Iris is the name of the game for the opening. A very clean, dry and sharp iris opening. More chalky dry than creamy or pasty. It reminded me most of Gallivant Bukhara.
Initially, Ludatrix felt singular, straight-forward. I didn’t get the ‘latex’ theme for a while and even as an iris-lover it felt perhaps too bareboned to be ‘enough’ for an entire wear.
However, it changes and a suede, cashmeran-like drydown comes in much more prominently than I’d figured after the opening hour. It has that warm, spicy saffron-suede that feels almost grating, but is subtle enough to not get tiresome.
The drydown is definitely not my prefered style of leather, but it does fit the theme well. Latexy, powdery and woody. It still feels rather straightforward, just less to my taste than the more iris-heavy opening.
Solid fragrance overall, but it didn’t end up falling in the ‘love’ category for me the way I hoped it would.
