This is a first impression after trying the Odyssey: Escape collection discovery set: Lineage is the surprise of this collection, although I doubt it will get any of the hype that Guidance is receiving at the time of writing. In general though, this is not one of Amouage’s best collections for me.

Lineage opens the most interesting out of the set. Fresh, zesty ginger and a plasticy saffron, almost instantly followed by a load of resins, which create a great texture throughout.

It’s subtle and I always have to get used to incense, but it’s a nice, spicy, aromatic and abstract take, that’s made more interesting with a pinch of sweetness from certain resins.

Linage wears soft, cotton-candy like, but also slightly mineral. I’m not sure where that tinge is coming from based on the notes, but it’s in the background for the entire wear.

Performance-wise, it was overpowered when wearing alongside the other 3 from the Escape collection during the wear. It’s perhaps too delicate to make a statement of any sorts, but this was definitely my favorite of this collection nonetheless.
