‘Pushkar, Rajasthan: from dawn till dusk, this sacred site arouses the senses. Visual opulence and intoxicating aromas seem to underline the power of faith in those who seek to purify their soul at the lakeside. Nature is happy to play along with the legendary nature of the site: the roses only flourish on the lakeside so as to be able easily to offer their petals to the Lord Brahma, and the setting sun forms a vivid backdrop for the bewitching melodic strains from the faithful.’ – Ella K
Ella K is a brand headed by owner and perfumer Sonia Constant (who you might know from JPG Le Belle/Le Beau, a lot of the Narciso Rodriguez, Tom Ford Noir Extreme, Noir Femme, Ombre Leather & Orchid Soleil and many more gems). It’s one of the best and in my opinion underrated houses that really stands out in the quality and vibrancy of the materials used.
Lettre de Pushkar is a great rose-oud-saffron combination. It feels rich and dense, like a lighter Dior Oud Ispahan, but it leans a bit more feminine and sweet. I prefer Melodie D’Altai & Ghibli, which seems to share some DNA, but I know a lot of people have Lettre De Pushkar as their favorite Ella K and I can see why.
