After briefly smelling the Hellenist line during Paris Perfume Week 2025, the brand made a great first impression. I knew that this 4th release, which was just announced, would be my least favorite from the brand however. But here’s my take on it regardless. The contrast perhaps felt even greater, as I wore it alongside my favorite on first impression, Les Bras de Morphee.
It’s a preference thing as I seldomly enjoy aquatic fragrances. In this case, it’s not that I have much negative to say about it, other than it just totally not being my style.
Les Dieux Aux Bains leans traditionally masculine, in a sharp, aromatic, cologne manner. It evokes about 50/50 sea and shower to my nose. Crunchy greens, sharp peppery aromatics with that distinct juniper sparkling touch, which I do always enjoy. However that sparkling texture makes way for a more smoother consistency after the opening.
It remains or even grows more strongly herbal, even though there is a sweetness to the base; it’s not a sweet-designer shower gel akin to Sauvage. It’s a modern take in the way it feels precise (no vintage smelling fuzzy moss), but the scent profile is not one you come across all that often anno 2025.
Again, very herbal. I personally prefer an Acqua di Parma Ginepro di Sardegna or a Headspace Genievre greatly over this as far as prominent juniper scents. To me Les Dieux Aux Bains turns into a balmy, almost medicinal smelling, sweetened vapor rub combination with aquatics. I actually grow to like the scent in a way, but it simply doesn’t do it for me as far as wearing it as a perfume.
