‘This fragrance embodies the joy and the lightness of ‘La Dolce Vita’ under the sun. I wanted to encapsulate the essence of idyllic summer days spent on the Amalfi Coast, savoring the Delizia al Limone cake. The tangy zest of Lemons, the freshness of mint leaves, and the creamy sweetness of Limoncello—overlying a luscious whipped cream atop a tender cake with notes of almond and vanilla. Lemon Delight is a slice of summer pleasures distilled into a bottle, offering the perfect experience of savoring an indulgent dessert with zesty lemon notes on a comforting creamy and vanilla base.’ – Superfumista
When I was in Paris for Perfume Week back in March, I had a chance to meet up with Ben from Superfumista and got to sample his creations. My favorite so far is Infra Rose. The clear runner-up was this Lemon Delight however (I already had a positive review up prior to this) and I’m happy to present it to you, as I think this one will appeal to many.
Now, this is not the most complex or hard to grasp fragrance, but a comforting snack. As the name suggests you get lemon, but it is ultimately a full-on gourmand. The opening has the lemon front and center; neon-colored, fresh, a bit powdery and sharp. Ben used mint for added freshness, making this a high frequency and acidic opening. More Casamorati Dama Bianca than Lira (both of which come to mind while wearing Lemon Delight). I also think this is significantly better than Akro Bake.
The sweetness is there from the jump. Creamy, lactonic. One of the notes is listed as ‘biscuit’ and I always think of cookies when smelling Lemon Delight a few minutes in. Sand tart cookies with a lemon drizzle. Almost 100% gourmand; I get maybe 5% of a babypowder musky vibe in it when smelling it up close.
After a while, the citrus facets fade away and you’re left with a cozy vanilla drydown. Pretty much all vanilla, but a lovely, lactonic soft vanilla, not a grating sugary one.
Both Lemon Delight and Infra Rose do the same thing very well; they’re playful, mass appealing & easy going, yet high quality. They avoid the downfall of cheap ingredients or cloying sweetness that many of their peers succumb to. At the time of writing, at €110/33ml, Superfumista feels like you’re getting more than your money’s worth (this was gifted, but I happily purchased Infra Rose).
