This was a complete impulse buy for me, after smelling it briefly in store. It has one of the best citrussy openings that I’ve come across and I figured for the (discounted) price of €75, I couldn’t go wrong with it.

Which is probably true, although I can also see how the even more affordable other Sisley products with the same scent may offer better value. Because while this is the Eau de Parfum version, it very much wears like the average, not so long-lasting hair mist. I have trouble detecting it within 3 hours; it’s probably the least performing fragrance in my 200 bottle collection at the moment.

Back to the scent and what made me buy it in the first place though: Some of the best, refreshing, but also elegant citruses are on full display here. I mostly smell lemon zest/rind and mandarin. I don’t get lavender or strong aromatics; it’s not too green for my taste, not too herbal; it has a bit of a lemon verbena hand soap quality to it, but as a whole, it feels mostly straight-forward fruity citrussy.

What I love about this citrus here is that it’s not candied, not sugared, not screechy. It’s just energizing, vibrant, airy, but soft and overall one of the most pleasantly wearing fragrances in this style.

After about an hour, it feels a tad more floral and ‘hairspray’-like. But still elegant. I was a bit worried about the ‘woody amber’ listed for the base, but it doesn’t end up a harsh or sweeter mess like many other fragrances do. The cost for that, as mentioned above, will be the longevity, but personally, I’m more than happy with that trade off.

On one hand, nothing too remarkable, but on the other hand, with the way perfumery has been devolving at a rapid pace in recent years, a simple solid citrussy freshie that doesn’t feel like it gets torn apart by an overdose of screechy synthetics almost feels like a breath of fresh air.
