Luca Turin gave Le Mat 5 stars in his 2018 edition of Perfumes: The Guide. Le Mat is inspired by the Tarot card of the same name.
Le Mat came heavily recommended to me and I was eager to get into this house (the bottles are quite outrageous). Le Mat is my first foray into Mendittorosa and it’s a good one.
Instantly, this is a super warm, spicy fragrance. This is probably the best rendition of a curry-esque immortelle for me, aside from Marc-Antoine Barrois Ganymede & Ganymede Extrait.
I was afraid that Le Mat would be too green for my taste, but while it certainly has a herbal tinge, it’s too warm and sweet to go green.
When I look for it, the rose is prominent as well, but the immortelle is the star of the show big time here and it’s one of the best notes when used correctly.
