‘Unfolding with tender notes of jasmine and chocolate at its core, woody notes of teak strengthen this fragrance. Finishing with base notes that honour soft vanilla, musk and gourmand notes of milk and chocolate, this sensual scent is charming from start to finish.’ – Chaubaud
This is one of the bigger guilty pleasure fragrances for me. To be 100% honest, I think the first hour is where all of its magic is at, before turning into a leftover lactonic tinge, that’s neither unpleasant or exciting. That opening though…
Comforting, cozy, full-on chocolate, but well-balanced. One of the most true to life chocolate notes that reminds me a bit of Nutella, so I get a hazelnut as well, like a hazelnut chocolate spread. It’s not overly sugary and sweet, but it’s definitely that type of chocolate and not the bitter or earthy chocolate, nor the vanillic or tonka bean one that only touched on the actual chocolate scent. For a straight forward, middle of the road chocolate, Lait Et Chocolat is hard to beat.
You could imagine some bitterness, coffee perhaps, for only a moment, before the scent makes its descent into milk. The more you wear it, the more milky it goes. Very lactonic, cleaner base, which makes for a less interesting drydown than the opening in my opinion. It has a typical lactonic scent with a hint of green floral that pulls it away from lifelike milk or the edible opening. I personally don’t get much woodiness.
Very addictive, short-lived excitement that makes you want to respray every hour. For the prices that you can pick this up for and the style of fragrance that it inherently is, that’s not a bad compromise to make. If I acquire a bottle, it may have to rest on my night stand.
