La Pausa is a fragrance, where the more I smell it, the more it’s ‘magnificent, but not fully for me’.
It’s a rooty, vegetal iris that presents itself quite bare boned. For my taste; it’s right on the edge; I love the rooty iris from Crivelli’s Iris Malikhan, but that goes a lot sweeter as it dries. I love the rooty iris from Xerjoff Irisss, but that’s carried by a load of bergamot. Here it feels even more focused and more green and earthy.
Don’t get me wrong, La Pausa is beautiful; a fresh, spicy green kick that’s not as dry as you might an iris in this scent profile to me in my opinion. It is bitter, and the iris itself might be powdery, but the overall composition has a dewy quality to my nose.
It’s subtle, classy and versatile. Up there with the better iris-centric scents, but in this case I will vouch for my Xerjoff.
