‘Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be converted in form. It is part of our every motion, always evolving and driving us forward. Kinesis is a vibrant and electric fragrance that captures the everlasting vitality of pure energy and the cyclical nature of movement. Bursting open with an effervescent citrus cocktail of bergamot, mandarin and grapefruit served with a twist of zesty ginger, Kinesis is immediately dynamic and lively. It is powerful and bracing, boasting an ozonic surge evocative of a breeze of fresh air created by a rush of motion. A cool blend of Incense and supple woods adds a meditative touch, taking inspiration from the ritualistic nature of movement and the clarity of a determined mind. Housed within our signature flacon with vibrant lime and white colouring, Kinesis is an endlessly invigorating fragrance. Created to stimulate the mind and awaken the body, Kinesis inspires one to move, transforming energy from one form to the next.’ – Aqualis
This is my first time trying one of the post-2023 releases from Aqualis (with this new bottle design) and I can’t say that I’m blown away by it. On par for the course, as I haven’t been wowed by any of the previous releases from the brand to be honest.
What I really like about Kinesis is the type of citrus / fruitiness that comes through most on my skin. Fizzy, grapefruit, ginger. And it remains quite fresh and bright for a long time. Almost plasticy, neon-bright like, but I prefer it here over another citrus-aquatic that I’ve tried from the house prior (I believe that was Brenton).
What I don’t like is the aquatic nature. I don’t really get that concept from the brand’s description or notes and maybe it’s just me, but to me, there’s an Acqua di Gio-esque, shower-gel vibe going on with the opening hour(s) of Kinesis. And while it doesn’t smell bad, that connection instantly makes it seem like a cheaper and more generic perfume than it should be.
Notes wise, I can’t really detect much distinctively and I’d say that the overall wear is much lighter and more airy than the heart -and basenotes let on. It grows sweeter and warmer, but in a sort of bubblegummy, amber-fougere showergel or sauna type of way. Almost like a steam accord.
Overall, not bad, but not a style of fragrance that moves or impresses me much. I think the drydown, albeit light and close to the skin, is quite nice for this type of scent profile, but the Acqua Di Gio-ish styling of the opening gives it a very mundane first impression.
