‘Khôl de Bahreïn is a glamourous fragrance that refers to the Khôl, an ancient cosmetic eye used by the Egyptian pharaos and queens and still worn by women in Middle East.’ – Stephane Humbert Lucas
Unfortunately Khol de Bahrein was not what I had hoped. With a sweet amber accord, iris, ambergris and sandalwood, I had high expectations for it. Somewhere I read a description describing it as a gourmand cosmetic product and that’s what I get here.
Powdery, floral, quite smooth, but with a savory, edible touch. Maybe it’s my skin chemistry, but I get a cumin or kurkuma like scent, in the most food-seasoning way from Khol de Bahrein. I see no one else mention this, nor is it in the listed notes, but I can’t get past it. The quality is nice, but sadly, I wouldn’t enjoy wearing Khol De Bahrein all that much. Instead, I ended up enjoying Isra & Miraj for a sweeter powdery scent from the house.
