This follow up to Khamrah is often compared to it’s predecessor, but to my nose, they are quite different. As with Khamrah though, I like the opening best.

I really like this opening hour actually. It goes more in the style of some of my favorites from 2024 Diptyque Bois Corse & Atelier des Ors Cocoa Kimiya. Not quite on that level as far as how it wears, but a solid take on coffee. Texture wise it felt a bit harsher and more airy, but I found the scent pretty realistic. What stands out is cardamom, adding a spicy tinge to the coffee and sweetness. The coffee is also sweeter than straight up coffee beans. I was reminded of Akro Awake, but definitely even more sweet in the case of Khamrah.

Unfortunately, whereas I found Khamrah to not hold up well, the same as twice as true for Qahwa. Either I go completely nose blind to the ingredients used in this composition or the performance on my sample was terrible. As much as I enjoyed the opening, after a while it becomes thin as air and hard to detect. I lose the actual scent of coffee and I’m left with a faint, but generic sugary sweet… mist.

I think this is a case of huge doses of specific synthetics that make for very different wearing experiences. Reviews for Khamrah Qahwa are all over the place in terms of longevity and also scent. Probably one that’s hard to judge as a wearer, but as I can only speak from my experience; I was pleasantly surprised by the opening, where I do get a decent coffee note and a manageable cardamom (which is often too sharp or overpowering to my nose), but a drydown that was a lot less of interest to me and got lost on me eventually, sooner than you would expect from a fragrance.

Down the line, I’ll probably revisit Khamrah Qahwa again to see if my experience differs then.
