This is a special edition bottle of Jungle Jezebel (2018). 250 bottles were created.
‘Each bottle comes with a signed and numbered authenticity card. Glass, perfume, sequins, false eyelashes, fake hair, elastic, card, fabric, foam, vinyl. *Extrait de parfum. Please note that every Artist Edition bottle of Jungle Jezebel is extrait de parfum even if the label states eau de parfum. Apologies—the labels were printed incorrectly.’ – Sarah Baker
Of course I had to try the most popular and probably at the same time most enigmatic release by Sarah Baker; Jungle Jezebel.
In the fragrance community probably most known for the eccentric bottle of the Artist Edition version. This fragrance set out to make an impression.
Given the notes, it make a different impression on me than I’d expected. It’s not nearly as fruity as I thought it would. The fruit that stands out is banana, in a mix with cleaner, fresher notes. As with L’Artisan Parfumeur Bana Banana, there’s a clean, powdery/dry baby powder to my nose. More baby powder than mint.
Whereas Bana Banana goes in a safe route; Jungle Jezebel doubles-down by introducing a high frequency hint of civet to the base, adding some skank. It’s a mix of pastel colored powder and neon green, acidic florals with an animalic tinge. I don’t get much of the other fruits or the sweetness, more of the green tones.
I don’t often love really fruity scents, but here I think more fruitiness would’ve helped me enjoy it more. Very interesting ride, but definitely not to my taste, especially as the wear progresses. Fun one to sample though.
