‘It was very early when she entered Misfah. The village awoke gently to the sound of water meandering wildly along thousands of irrigation canals, the falajs. With hands covered in unknown symbols, she gently touched the trees, buds, and young fruit. Nature began to rustle. Pomegranates, apricots, figs, and almonds ripened. Roses opened into a kaleidoscope of brilliant colors. The palm trees bent under the weight of their arrogant dates. As she passed, Misfah transformed into an extraordinary village. An open-air cornucopia, where each breath was an opportunity to discover a new scent. Jardins de Misfah Extrait is a reimagined Jardins of Misfah. In this smoother, deeper version, abundance does not mean excess. In the heart of a unique rose garden, the scent of dates, honey, and almonds whet both the appetite and the desire.’ – Une Nuit Nomade

I’d only tried the Une Nuit Nomade Extraits in store & during Paris Perfume Week prior and I figured that Jardins de Misfah would be my favorite. I still really like it, especially the first hour or two, but it does get sweeter than I’d like for this style and to my surprise, I slightly preferred the newer Chemin D’Amande, which I wore alongside it. That being said, this is a great fragrance on its own right.

Mind you, I’ve smelled the EDP, but never properly tested or reviewed it, so I can’t make a comparison, but I assume the two are quite similar (it seems that half of the reviews say the Extrait is less sweet, while the other half says it’s sweeter).

This has one of the more intriguing takes on a honeyed rose, because the florals themselves remain quite fresh and soapy. There is a constant, light, non-descript fruitiness (I personally wasn’t reminded of dates). The sweetness also isn’t thick; honey especially, can be overwhelming and dominating in fragrances, but here, it’s like a honeyed air at first.

In a way it’s very sweet, sugary, honeyed, but there is a constant freshness, with a soapy, shampoo-like quality and over time, some green hues punch through. To me personally, the first hour(s) aren’t cloying one bit and I wouldn’t call it gourmand at all, but in the later hours, I can see it being a tad cloying.

The rose is the star of the show, with it’s soapy, oily vibe and for a sweet honey rose, it remains one of the more sophisticated takes.
