This is your classy, classic/retro masculine fougere.
Lavender, but in particular a lot of pine-esque green woodiness. Very traditional and common barbershop-style fragrance.
It’s dual-layered for me. On one hand, the brighter and fresher side is quite loud and sharp; packs a punch. There’s a smoother and also sweeter side underneath.
No tonka beans are listed, but that’s the kind of sweetness that I get from this. It makes for a nicer wear for someone like myself who doesn’t necessarily love this style of cypress-mossy greenness. With the sweetness it goes a bit more in the direction of Tom Ford For Men Extreme.
When my nose got used to the sharper facets, more and more of a citrussy tinge become noticeable to me, giving the fragrance another side. I get the lemon, maybe reminding me also a bit of mandarin, more so than bergamot.
As common as this is, it’s very well-rounded and quite beautiful. Upon first spraying it, I was afraid this wouldn’t fit my taste; I’m not fully into the style of fragrance, but I kept smelling my wrist with this one. About as good as this style gets for me and a fragrance I would enjoy wearing.
