As of of 2024, Istanbul is still my second favorite release from Gallivant, following closely behind the fresh iris Bukhara.

It’s a one of the most resinous fragrances that I’ve come across, especially in the higher concentration roll-on format. You get the patchouli and a lot of the spices, creating a spice bazaar feeling, but the texture of the amber accord is beautifully dense and oily. It gets very sweet over time and it’s just an all-out comforting fragrance to me.

I have the roll-on oil for Istanbul, which wears a little thicker and closer to the skin and is even better than the sprayer in my opinion, but both are great options and highlights from the brand.
