‘At once fiercely natural and intricately refined, Issara is a fougère beyond comparison, blending classic freshness with dynamic ingredients that add unprecedented smoothness and character.’ – Pissara Umavijani
Announced as a fougere, which admittedly, isn’t often my favorite style of perfumery, Issara was one of the Dusita’s that I was less eager to get around to. However, upon smelling it, I must say, this is rather nice.
What this smells like mostly to me is sweet, almost honeyed, clary sage. It has the sweetness of the hay, the aromatic and very soft clary sage. It lacks the harshness and sparkling texture of many fougeres, nor do I find it particularly green; the beige hay and lilac clary sage are the tones I smell in Issara most as well. I have the Salvia Sclarea (clary sage) shampoo & conditioner duo by Zenology, which smells very similar to this opening hour.
It gets even sweeter and perhaps a tad earthy as it grows, but mostly this becomes all coumarin/tonka bean. More pleasant than I’d imagined this scent profile to me.
