Iris Perle was my most anticipated release from Les Indemodables (I already had a bottle of Vanille Havane before sampling the entire line).
Iris Perle opens very interestingly. You definitely get the more feminine leaning tropical tinge from the jasmine and ylang ylang, but also a hint of sage that feels more masculine leaning. The nuances are subtle and they do fade after a while. Overall, it’s very bright with the mimosa giving it a lemonade-like tinge initially, but that also fades quickly. Whereas the (also iris-loaded) Musc des Sables listed a mandarin note, I feel Iris Perle goes more in that direction, with it’s juicy and acidic opening and a mandarin-esque scent that lingers for quite a while.
Iris Perle definitely has a strong iris note, but it’s almost overpowered by the florals initially, until ultimately, after a couple of hours the focus on the iris overtakes the composition. It smells clean, bright and at times even a bit crisp and sharp. It’s a ‘pretty’ scent that evokes images of a window with white silk curtains, overlooking a sunny, perhaps Mediterranean, countryside on a nice Spring day.
It doesn’t have the instant wow-factor (as opposed to Ambre Supreme for example), but it’s stunning and a great recommendation for an iris scent.
