Prada Infusion D’Iris was reportedly reformulated in 2015.
‘Infusion d’Iris Eau de Parfum encapsulates the elegant personality of the iris in a floral woody fragrance. The elegant iris is immersed in a signature solution of musks and citrus that recreates the enveloping scent of skin, allowing the personality of the ingredient to fuse with you. Les Infusions are second-skin fragrances that suit you right away and instantly feel like you.’ – Prada
This has always been one of my favorite iris fragrance (and frankly, I should’ve bought a bottle a long time ago). I decided to revisit it after reviewing and buying Armani My Way Parfum, one of my favorite designer releases of the first half of 2023, so I sprinkled some comparisons between the two in this, similar on the face, but very very different iris scents.
Both fresh, citrussy iris scents, yet going a different direction for pretty much any part of the composition. Prada Infusion D’Iris being the more mature, less sweet, more green, more floral one.
Very sharp florals here, high pitched neroli and the bitter, dry palpable spiciness of the galbanum make this an iris that I can almost taste in my mouth as I spray it.
As with the Armani, the mix with citrus that cuts through the powdery woody core is what makes it beautiful. My Way being a more candied, sweeter and more ‘orange’ fruity citrus. Infusion D’Iris a more watery floral citrus where the fruits are more subtle and have an even high acidity and bitterness. The neroli adds a real soapy, baby-product tinge to the opening hour.
The base of Prada Infusion D’Iris is a bit vintage smelling. Old wood and a peppery tinge overtake the fresher powder. To be fair, it feels a lot more full-bodied and high quality than Armani’s cedar-musk, but I’m not sure which I prefer to smell.
I think the part of this fragrance that always has kept me from fully appreciating it to the point of getting a full bottle is the galbanum and greener tinge.
As an overall fragrance, Prada Infusion D’Iris is the more complete, better constructed and more mature scent, that I should prefer over My Way Parfum. Should, and eventually, during the wear, will. However, the opening of the Prada is not as lively and it’s an understated scent from start to finish.
