‘Defying the rules. A scent that unleashes the inner self. “Rays of sunlight seep through the blinds, gently warming up the floor as he immerses himself in the fragrance of his tea. A faint scent dances on the tip of his nose, fresh citrus with earthy notes of soil; is it sweat, or tobacco? He gives in to temptations…”. Perhaps there is no rule, but within deviance, lies charm.’ – Tobba
Perhaps a bit surprising to me, given the notes, is that this wears perhaps the sweetest to me from Tobba. The opening is really nice, but the drydown wasn’t my favorite.
You definitely get most of the notes here, with green hues and citrus, but the caraway is adding a sweet spiciness and the earthiness throughout always stays on the safe and sweeter side.
Ambroxan seems the name of the game here, so if you’re opposed to that watery, sugary air surrounding a fragrance, Indolence might even feel cloying to you. I think it’s very well-balanced and it kind of gives me a sugared tea vibe.
In contrast you have a more dry, greenness underneath. I was expecting a lot more of that given what I heard about this one though; I don’t get a strong powderiness or hay. The other facets and especially the sweetness that I didn’t account for, seem to be much more up front to me.
However later on in the wear, a nutty, ambrette-like spicy, amberwoody base takes over. This could actually register more as ‘hay’ to me, and I found it to be a bit harsh and dense.
