‘Mystical and aristocratic, Indochine forms part of the Oud Stars Xerjoff collection, a selection of perfumes dedicated to traditional Arab perfumery. Created from pure oud distillation, Indochine unfolds with extravagant top notes of orange, strawberry and pink pepper. Oriental in character, heart notes of Bulgarian rose, muguet and peony journey to a classic base of Madagascan vanilla and agarwood, all framed with an oud caress.Mystical and aristocratic, Indochine forms part of the Oud Stars Xerjoff collection, a selection of perfumes dedicated to traditional Arab perfumery. Indochine was a nice surprise for me. I sampled the 2019 version; I don’t know if there are differences with the 2013 square bottle version.
With mango, strawberry, musk and caramel, I thought I knew what to expect (and figured it would a feminine leaning fruity musk with a vanilla drydown). Instead the combination with a sweet oud is pretty interesting and unisex.
It’s like a brighter and fruitier rose-oud in the style of More Than Words… but with mango instead of rose. This is probably my favorite rendition of mango so far in a perfume. Nice jammy and syrupy; this is fruity done right and uniquely.
