Ile Mythique came recommended to me by several people, when I was trying out Chabaud. Based on what I knew about it, I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy it, but I ended up really loving this one.
Essentially this has the liquorice-myrrh done in a nicer way to me than the more recent Tom Ford Myrrhe Mystere. The liquorice and sweetness hit me first; but instantly with an edge that pulls it more towards salmiak.
Anise also jumped out for me, but the more I paid attention to the scent after the opening, the more I felt the brighter aromatics, with lavender as most prominent, were leading the way.
And that is kind of what I get; not overly complicated, but a pretty sweet liquorice and lavender that is carried in this smooth, dense, chewy, resinous texture, which is absolutely the star of the show for me.
It’s only recently that I’ve started to notice this liquorice-myrrh connection in several fragrances, but Ile Mythique is absolutely my favorite take on it thus far and a stand out in a style that didn’t instantly speak to me.
