I’ve tried a lot of exotic/tropical white floral scents. When I grabbed this sample I didn’t know it was one and I was kind of bummed, because I was also sampling Amouage Opus I & Fragrance Du Bois Oud Jaune Intense at the time, which are both heavy hitters with that scent profile.
Surprisingly, Ibiza Nights more than held its own. See, the main gripe with the white floral scents for me, is that I tend to prefer them on women, which is something that I don’t get with Ibiza Nights. You have the familiar jasmine and ylang ylang. The fruitiness in the opening is a mix of orange and pear and there’s quite a load of vanilla. Yet, it’s darker and more masculine than it reads.
The patchouli is a big player here and even though it’s a very clean patchouli, it adds a touch of heaviness in the base. There’s also a nice minty edge, that I couldn’t pinpoint, but looking at the notes, it’s probably the anise.
In my opinion it fits the name perfectly; it’s reminiscent of the sunny, party aesthetic that I link to Ibiza, but it’s not a scent that you would wear to the beach during a high heat day. For me this works better in milder weather or as the name suggests, in the nighttime. The performance still isn’t great, but it’s not as fleeting as Marbella was. It projects well, but the longevity leaves something to be desired. All in all, it’s a solid release and it doesn’t feel redundant in the tropical white floral space at all.
