‘Welcome to the next chapter in Professor Perfume’s scent story. Honey Suite blends the typically-sweet notes of honey and vanilla with the golden florals of broom-absolute, lavender, and incense to create a warm, spicy, and woody dream. You’ll be over the moon for this decadent fragrance.’ – Snif
This is a rather strange scent on my skin. Lovable in essence, but with some facets that keep me personally from loving it.
Honey Suite is not as mass appealing as I was expecting. It has more of the true, singular honey ingredient, which very sweet, but not necessarily the sweet, edible, desert vibe that one often gets from more mainstream honey fragrances. On the other hand, it’s far from a direct take on pure honey or beeswax.
Initially, I found it to smell more like honey, but after really honing in on the scent a bit more, I start getting different and increasingly different vibes. The sweetness feels tonka bean/coumarin-like, with hints of marzipan and earthiness. There’s a hint of aromatic, peppery spiciness that you would get from honey. But there is a tinge to it all that I can’t place whatsoever; plastic, burnt? There’s a strange twist to this honey scent to my nose and frankly, I’m not 100% sure if this the intention or if I don’t love the quality of the fragrance?
Then again, as soon as I typed that, I’m urged to mention that it’s a subtle tinge and I should double down on how much tonka quality I get from Honey Suite. You know how overripe fruits get darker, denser and oversaturated? Imagine that happening to the scent of tonka bean and vanilla; Honey Suite is exactly what I imagine that to smell like. Very sweet, thick but it’s a darker and less mass appealing take on honey than I was anticipating (which I consider to be to its credit). At least for several hours, as the late drydown is a more generic vanillic extension of the wear.
I like 80% of Honey Suite, but that 20% tinge throughout the first couple of hours keeps me from finding it more than just okay.
