‘Refinement and elegance are collective attributes that come with the choices that a person makes and the way they carry themselves. With this in mind, we introduce KAJAL HOMME II, a new fragrance created to complement your charm, charisma and uniqueness.’ – Kajal
So how does the brand-new Homme II stack up against it’s predecessor? To recap; I frankly wasn’t impressed by the original Kajal Homme. It doesn’t smell bad, but the scent-profile and quality didn’t strike me as a fairly high-priced niche release and I didn’t get the hype. I’m always very honest and the brand responded in the best way possible, by respecting it and providing me with Homme II and Lamar to try.
Homme II continues the redemption as I think it’s a step up. The scent is closer to what I expected from seeing the color of the juice in the original. It still has a lot of freshness, but it’s a deeper and richer overall experience. I mainly get a herbal cedar scent with soapy lavender adding a prominent, masculine-leaning touch. The opening is dominated by citrusses, which are very nice. Overall it has a much greener tinge than the original Homme. It transitions by becoming sweeter as it goes along (not nearly as sweet as Lamar though). It’s a good balance; the sweetness is on the fruity side and takes over the contrasting function when the citrus fades.
‘Green notes’ are listed and it’s a wet, dewy, rain-like accord. It’s almost aquatic to my nose and combined with the citrus, it’s the aspect that’s reminiscent of what I didn’t love in the first Homme. It’s a (plasticy) element that smells familiar from the cheapie or designer-realm; I usually refer to Nautica Voyage for it.
Overall, Homme II is good. It’s likely that anyone who enjoys Homme will enjoy II at least as much, probably more.
