Guerlain Homme was one of my first fragrance loves. It was all the way at the beginning of my fragrance journey and it’s probably the fragrance I’ve worn the most of in the years following.
For me this is/was the best bang-for-buck fragrance on the market. I paid less than €40/100ml and it’s arguably a top 10-15 fragrance in my collection, definitely if we’re talking warm weather scents. Unfortunately prices have risen significantly since, but it’s still a great option.
Guerlain Homme opens with a slightly watery, boozy, fresh vibe and mint. It’s one of the very few fragrances where the mint smell isn’t conflicting or overpowering in my opinion. What totally makes Homme EDP however, is the perfect lime note. After testing many fragrances, I’d still say this is my favorite rendition of lime, which in turn is one of my favorite notes. It’s so good, especially considering it’s price, it just reeks of excellence and it smells surprisingly natural to me; more so for the peel of the lime instead of the juice.
It dries down to a fairly safe, but nice, clean woody scent. There’s a hint of vetiver, although not too green. It steers the fragrance in a masculine leaning direction. Guerlain Homme will always have a place in my collection and I’m due for a second bottle before the end of 2024.
