‘Heyam is the wild call of your passionate soul to another; the deepening of the romantic bonding; the selfless giving of hearts to each other. Incredibly warm tobacco tones mingle with piquant notes of clove, nutmeg and bergamot. These then intertwine with exhilarating tones of orris, gin and cedar to form love’s melody. Then irresistible sandalwood and leather make their indelible mark on love’s symphony.’ – Jazeel
Heyam was in interesting surprise. When I see clove and tobacco, I’m always a bit worried that a fragrance will smell like Tobacco Vanille, or something in that direction. Heyam does it differently.
I would argue this opens more as an iris scent first, with very strong spiciness. Clove is the thing that hits your nose first. Some people are sensitive to that smell and should be aware that it’s not just a couple of minutes of strong clove in the opening, but something that will likely decide if you love this fragrance or not.
The tobacco-like scent here opens more on the fresher, sharper side. It’s sweet, but not necessarily warm. And it gets sweeter throughout as one might expect.
Most of the wear reads like honeyed wood shavings and iris, mixed with a bit of dry tobacco, but more so spices. Very comforting and balanced, but at the same time vibrant. The projection with Heyam is pretty massive, so this will be an attention grabber when you wear it.
Ghala is by far my favorite from the brand, but Heyam is probably my second or third favorite from the 6 that I’ve tried at the time of writing.
