‘The scent of the Japanese lotus lily. A bright, radiant composition with pronounced Chypre and Amber facets on a woody dry, very sensual base. Hasu-no-Hana hailed the dawn of modern creative perfumery. Originally created in 1888, this scent has a timeless quality which comes from its pioneering spirit.’ – Grossmith
Grossmith is an interesting brand, with relaunched vintage compositions. Hasu-no-Hana is their more floral and babypowdery take on a Musc-Ravageur-esque DNA.
You get that warm labdanum vibe in the drydown (surprised labdanum isn’t listed as a note), but especially in the opening it smells cleaner and a bit higher in acidity. Another fragrance that it reminds me off is Von Eusersdorff Classic Opoponax.
Very pleasant scent that leans a tad more vintage (and feminine) than many in this style.
