Guercino is a real attention-grabber with its opening. It’s very citrussy, with a tinge of tropical fruitiness. I’d say it’s more so tart and acidic than fully fruity (although at times I get a clear apple scent). At the same time, this is sweet and smooth, which is quite an interesting combination.
To me, this scent is probably the most like smelling a bag of candy that I’ve experienced in a fragrance. It has that tart and sweet mix that reminds me of (non-transparent) gummy candys that are sour, but sugared (there’s a Dutch candy called Redband Magic Keys that remind me a lot of this scent).
I absolutely love the opening and if you like Terenzi fragrances like Orza or Tuttle, you probably enjoy this too. As it dries down inevitably the acidity of the citrus fades away, which leaves a less fun drydown.
Guercino becomes a bit harsher, with a (synthetic smelling) fruity sweetness, pretty similar to the transition in Tuttle. The scent is still nice and remains suitable for warmer weather as well, but it doesn’t have the same brightness and joy as the opening.
While unisex and not too youthful for my taste (despite smelling like candy, so that’s quite a feat), I do think this one will appeal a lot to women and a younger crowd as well; more so than Giambellino, which will was released alongside it. I prefer the first hour of Guercino, but I think overall, Giambellino is my favorite. I do think however, that Guercino will far exceed its popularity and its not hard to see why.
