Gris Charnel Extrait is a flanker to the popular (and absolute favorite BDK of mine) Gris Charnel.

I’d say the Extrait takes the DNA into a more masculine leaning, spicier and woodier direction. It’s definitely harsher than the original in the opening minutes. Whereas the original is sweet and cozy from the get go, Extrait takes a while to sweeten up and I get a hint of a nutty scent when it does. Other than that I feel like there’s more of a fiery amber accord burning underneath.

The two are rather similar, but maybe just about different enough to warrant having both in my opinion. However, I do prefer the original Gris Charnel by a large margin myself. It’s more comforting, versatile and unique than its still decent Extrait brother.
