This seems to be one of the most divisive, or even straight up disliked releases of the year. I finally gave it a try and when I smelled it on a test strip I thought; this is pretty awesome; fresh, a bit fruity and rather unique. On skin, I have to say I liked it less, but I still thought it was solid.
It’s a lot sweeter; with a familiar designer sweetness, here paired with a soapy quality and white floral heart. It’s a bit green and almost vegetal, but only when I smelled my skin up close.
It took me a while to think of what Good Fortune reminded me of and it’s actually The Harmonist Moon Glory; one of my favorite discoveries of 2022. Granted that Good Fortune feels like a much weaker executed version; it’s a sweet, vanillic white floral in the same vein.
Good Fortune feels more sugary vs. the almost caramel or butterscotch Moon Glory and the florals are not as rich. The sweetness is the main issue here, as it’s a similar, in my opinion cloying, cheap smelling sweetness that dominates many women’s marketed designer releases (or even something like One Million).
It makes Good Fortune smell generic, even though when I inspect it closely, it has a more a more interesting facet than most of its competitors and I don’t think it’s a bad release.
