Giambellino was recently released alongside Guercino. There is something magical about the Guercino opening, but overall, this Giambellino is my favorite of the duo.
What I really like about Giambellino is that it seems to have a little bit of everything and for everyone. Fragrances that are more abstract and hard to define, even within broad categories can be clashing or chaotic, but not with Giambellino.
As with Guercino, this has a lot of sweetness that goes in a candy direction. However, Giambellino is a shade darker and a tad more mature, adding an aromatic and spicy tinge.
I’ve worn this several times now and I can’t give you a straight answer as to what this smells like; one moment it’s a lot of citrus, the other more of an earthiness (patchouli), a lot of the time I get spicy aromatics (lavender standing out), but always in a cloud of candied sweetness. It also comes across a bit boozy to my nose.
The fragrances this reminds me of the most are Casamorati 1888 and Moresque Contessa, but Giambellino is lighter and less masculine-leaning than those two and the sweetness is more on the nose.
Overall, a stunning release, with a lot of versatility. I could see myself wearing this in all seasons and most situations, although it’s perhaps too sweet as an office scent for me. Perfectly unisex as well.
