‘Immerse yourself in the universe of a fresh and joyful fragrance that not only captivates with its juicy Pear and Fig notes but also tells the story of the Ex Nihilo community as this fragrance is directly inspired by the life of its creators in all its diversity. We recommend to spray a large and generous cloud of the fragrance all over the body to fully enjoy its unique sensoriality. Eau de parfum alcohol free. GENERATION(S) is a delightful olfactory experience for the modern tribes, including those with sensitive skin: an innovative Eau de Parfum crafted with an alcohol-free formulation that ensures an unmatched innocuity and sensorial pleasure over time.’ – Ex Nihilo
Ex Nihilo surprised me with Spiky Muse, one of my favorite ‘bigger’ releases of 2025 so far, but its follow-up doesn’t make me as excited. Generation(s) is very pleasant to me, mind you, but not all that interesting.
From start to finish, this feels like a thin, light, molecular, ‘second-skin’ type woody scent. The fig here is understated and its fruity tinges only in the beginning, whereas most of the wear it adds a lactonic quality to already lactonic woods.
Generation(s) feels like milky pencil shavings, soft musky woods, clean paper. Some hints of a Le Labo Santal 33-ish sandalwoody base, although not as green or fresh. Especially in the drydown, it feels more spicy, smoky woody. Yet, all with subtlety and airy, synthetic feeling.
This type of milky musky woods is quite nice in my opinion, and I guess the idea here is that it is meant to be subtle, for sensitive skin, alcohol-free etc., but it does make for a rather basic scent. If this had come out some years ago, when Escentric Molecules and fragrances like Juliette Has A Gun Not A Perfume became trendy, it would’ve made more sense. Now it feels like a standard, utilitarian body mist disguised as innovation.
