French Riviera is one of my favorite Mancera releases and of of the few ‘aquatic’ scents that I wouldn’t mind owning.
It opens with a lot of citrus and sharpness. A lot of Mancera fragrances go all out on the fruits, but this one settles down quite quickly. The fruitiness remains, but it’s more a watery vibe and not so much a fruit juice, nor is it sweet.
After about half an hour I get more and more of the aquatic nature. It’s not your average sun-tan lotion scent or ‘salty skin’ scent. It lists tiare, mimosa and sea salt, but overall, this scent stays pretty neutral and subtle. Light citrus mixed with a sea breeze and clean pine wood.
I can definitely picture a seaside setting, but not so much a beach on a hot day; this is more a forest patch a bit further inland on an overcast day. Rather subtle and mature, which is not something I often find in Mancera releases. Yet it’s also very safe and mass appealing.
Very nice release and this could very well end up being a bottle purchase for me in the future.
