Fougere Emeraude is easily my favorite from what I would list as the ‘3 greener’ Les Indemodables (Chypre Azural, Oriental Velours and Fougere Emeraude). Granted, that these are not my favorites from the brand.
This one opens rather fresh, aromatic and floral. You get a beautiful, light and airy lavender and clary sage; it’s definitely instantly announcing itself as a fougere fragrance, but it does it in the silkiest, ozonic and smoothest way.
Not long after, the tuberose takes over the composition. This is essentially a slightly sweetened tuberose scent with an air of lavender to my nose on first impression. Tuberose can be hit or miss for me, but lately I’ve been gravitating towards it heavily.
The fougere in the name kept me from having high expectations of Fougere Emeraude, but this is easily a fragrance that you can fall in love with, even if you’re not a fan of the style usually. It hinges way more on your take on florals and tuberose in particular.
I was most surprised by this one. Picture a relatively easy to wear tuberose, like diptyque Do Son and add a powdery, soft lavender and a slowly growing presence of tonka to make it sweeter as it dries. In some wafts I get a more milky, almost ylang-ylang-esque scent as well.
Frederic Malle Carnal Flower is the number one tuberose in my collection, but Fougere Emeraude has definitely earned my appreciation.
