#Flowerpower is part of the Monegal Ibiza line-up, alongside #Laislablanca, which I like least and #Cafedelmar which is my favorite. So #Flowerpower falls right in the middle and here’s why:
#Flowerpower is a vanillic fruity and floral concoction that’s at the same time playful and powerful projection-wise. As with many of the Monegal fragrances in my opinion, it smells quite unnatural, but with some fragrances, as with #Flowerpower, that is not a bad thing per se. #Flowerpower is more of a Koons or Hirst, not a Monet or a Van Gogh.
It has elements reminding me of caramel candy, but also a hint of bubblegum. I think describing fragrances as ‘synthetic’ is overused and often done by people who couldn’t differentiate between a natural or synthetic ingredient to begin with, but it feels spot-on in this case.
The fruitiness seems to cause a lot of the feeling that #Flowerpower gives off. There’s a distinct ‘aquatic’ cologne-essence in the composition reminiscent of what you get in Acqua Di Gio (Profumo in particular) or even in Nautica Voyage.
The florals are understated and the sweetness takes over almost instantly. A strong vanillic backbone with hints of cacao or even coffee is noticeable. After several wearings, I still feel it clashes a bit with the way the opening smells, but the sweetness is what makes this fragrance for me and as it dries more, I enjoy it the most. After an hour it starts to feel like one big accord resembling an artificial wet and gourmand flower.
#Flowerpower won’t appeal to everyone, but it’s a fun release; unisex and I definitely see it appeal to a younger crowd as well.
