‘White flowers, spice and citrus heated until it catches fire. Deep smoky notes in the dryness of the fragrant desert. Inspired as much by memories of New Mexico as by our pulp fiction novel that follows heroine May Belle on her quest for the mythical flower that reveals secret worlds. Dramatic.’ – Sarah Baker
Flame and Fortune can best be described as a sweet white floral fragrance.
Tuberose is instantly noticeable; a bit bubblegummy, but also very sweet; one of the sweetest renditions of tuberose that I can recall in a niche perfume.
It’s offset by lovely fresher and fruitier elements, with ginger and apricot being prominent. Those are my favorite elements of Flame and Fortune and much needed to balance the weight of the sweetness and tuberose.
To me, this is quite wet, even though it also gets powdery after a while. The wetness and the warmth add to a booziness. I think it can be a bit cloying for sure and that’s why it won’t be one of my favorites from the house.
