Fanfare opens as one the freshest, green scents that I’ve enjoyed in a while. I’m not quite sure about the sweetness that eventually creeps up, but overall, it’s a thumbs up for me.
There’s no lime listed, but to my nose it smells like a lime fragrance in the opening, but instead of just the citrussy aspect, you get these crunchy, green leaves. A style that I’m not often a fan of, but here, the almost minty green edge really helps with Fanfare being a refreshment.
Juniper provides a nice spark and the whole opening has an overall cooling, aromatic fresh vibe, without delving too much in an aftershave direction; it’s completely unisex. There’s a strong floral side, I would guess lily-of-the-valley as a big part of the florals here?
Fanfare remains green and floral throughout, but it does grow a sweetness after several hours. Basically, I still smell lily-of-the-valley-ish flowers, but it has an added candy cover; it reminds me of the bubblegummy sweetness that you more often get from tuberose, so maybe it’s that.
This is nit-picking however and the sweetness is more subtle as that paragraph made it sound. I think the fragrance holds up pretty well throughout and while it’s a bit different from what I would personally go for, it’s a solid release.
