‘Fakhi Oud is a fruity floral Oud perfume made to be enjoyed all year round. Unlike many perfumes out there, my strawberry, raspberry, blackcurrent, mandarin, apple, apricot and pineapple notes are 100% natural (essential oils), and it took a very long time to accumulate such a fruity selection. The opening of juicy strawberries and raspberries, partnered with refreshing apple and apricot, and a bright citrusy mandarin. This captivating fragrance opens with an intoxicating burst of luscious fruits that dance on the senses. Juicy strawberry and raspberry mingle with tart blackcurrant, while bright mandarin and crisp apple add sparkling freshness. The playful sweetness of cotton candy weaves through tropical pineapple and delicate pear, elevated by effervescent aldehydes. An unexpected touch of African rum adds warmth and complexity, while sun-kissed apricot and rich tobacco hints create intrigue from the very first spray. As the fragrance develops, the heart reveals deeper layers of sophistication. The tobacco note grows more prominent, creating a beautiful contrast with the fruity opening, while maintaining the gourmand allure that makes this scent utterly addictive. The base unfolds like a precious tapestry of the world’s most coveted ingredients. Rare Bengali oud provides an exotic, woody foundation, while precious Indian saffron adds golden warmth and spice. Tobacco absolute deepens the smoky character, perfectly balanced by the green earthiness of oakmoss and the leathery facets of white birch. Creamy benzoin and intoxicating vanilla create a resinous ambery tone, while exotic davana brings honeyed, fruity nuances. The composition is completed by the opulent florals of jasmine and rose, with warm clove adding a final spicy flourish. This is a fragrance of contrasts and complexity—playfully fruity yet mysteriously smoky, sweet yet sophisticated, familiar yet exotic. It evolves beautifully on the skin, revealing new facets throughout the day and leaving an unforgettable trail of luxury and intrigue.’ – LHParfums

I’d smelled some Lana & Hadi before via a friend and the brand kindly sent over samples to try the entire collection. Usually I don’t share thoughts after testing on paper, but given the rare nature of these releases, I figured sharing my initial response off a teststrip could be helpful (I wore the 5 that stood out for my taste after the initial impression, but this wasn’t one of those).

Fakhi Oud has a very surprising scent from the get-go. Fruity, but smoky, daring. Overripe syrup with strawberry as a standout scent to my nose, mixed with a birch tar-barbecue-esque smokiness. Boozy, thick, sweet. Some moments the candied fruitiness jumps out at me, but at its darker, denser moments, it’s a lot more than you usually bargain for with fruity scents. Frankly, this one reminded me of a melted/warmed up bag of gummy candies and it’s not something that works for me. Fakhi Oud (off first impression on paper) was probably my least favorite from the collection.
