‘Experience a journey of light with a dazzling trail of osmanthus and magnolia. Like a sun in the heart of the night, the shooting star sends a universal message of hope, an invitation to shine and make one’s most precious dreams come true. Jacques Cavallier Belletrud reveals this unique brilliance, thanks to an absolute of osmanthus, a raw material he’s loved since childhood. Here, the ‘flower of light’ infuses its naturally fruity softness, while a tinge of jasmine from Grasse amplifies its velvety character. This marvellous radiance attains its zenith upon contact with fresh, vibrant magnolia essence from China. Touched by grace, Étoile Filante carries in its heart the most beautiful emotions. This is a perfume that celebrates joy, hope and beauty in its purest state.’- Louis Vuitton
After having worn 8 of the Louis Vuitton samples, I have to say that Étoile Filante is easily my least favorite.
It’s a combination of white musk and strawberry that smells highly unnatural. It also doesn’t smell fresh in my opinion; there’s an almost plasticy tinge. That must be the leathery aspects from the osmanthus, but it also doesn’t smell like any osmanthus fragrance I’ve tried, nor jasmine, which is also listed. That goes for everything in this composition, the strawberry in particular feels really like it’s an abstract painting of a strawberry rather than actual fruit. It does smell unique and a bit less generic than a lot of the Louis Vuitton fragrances, but ufortunately, this one was a miss in my book.
