Escale en Haiti is the woody, aromatic cologne from Les Indemodables, whereas Escale en Indonesie is more citrussy.
Not my usual style, but that’s not to say that Escale En Haiti isn’t nice; I might like it as much as Escale En Indonesie. To my nose it has an almost nutty (without the sweetness) quality in the opening and a strong dose of juniper. It’s a fresh, woody and slightly pine-like scent, but it’s surprisingly soft.
Its main ingredient is vetiver, but it’s not reminiscent too much of most other vetiver scents to me. It’s clearly there and slightly earthy and sweeter. I can have issues with vetiver personally, but not at all in this. Here I feel it results in a more woody, almost wet cedar experience. A fragrance Escale en Haiti reminds me of is Veronique Gabai Cap D’Antibes, although the latter is a tad sweeter and more ‘summery’.
I can’t decide which of the Les Indemodables colognes I prefer; they are very different, but about equally interesting to me. And both may be worth it the most from the excellent Les Indemodables collection, as they are significantly cheaper per ml than their other fragrances.
