Encens Mythique is an interesting one and one of the better releases in the (average) Les Absolus D’Orient line from Guerlain.

It’s much spicier than I’d imagine beforehand. I get a ton of pepper… on top of clean linen. That linen quickly starts to transition into a more aquatic, ambergris-esque base, but it stays clean. This is not a dirtier, animalic ambergris.

You get an aldehydic, ozonic brightness up top, but those peppers were flying off my skin! I think it’s intriguing and good; just a tad unfamiliar to my nose. It’s one that I would love to wear more often, because I think it could be a grower (that’s what she said) and there’s definitely some magic in there. One of Mr. Wasser’s best.
