Mysterious Rose opens as one of the most promising and lovely rose fragrances to me. And it is lovely throughout, although I’d rather have seen it less sweet. Still, a great option for a smooth, almost creamy rose.

This has a vibrant and invigorating rose, mixed with a smooth texture. In the opening there is some sourness, but quickly it settles into something familiar from Matiere Premiere’s Radical Rose and with that extra sweetness and smoothness, it particularly reminds me of the Radical Rose Extrait. It’s good to note here that Mysterious Rose was released prior to either version of the Matiere Premiere, so Mysterious Rose gets bonus points for being that good, rather than points deducted for smelling familiar.

It wears nicely and it warms up as you would expect during the drydown. As mentioned, this goes a bit sweeter than ideal for me, but it’s still something that I’d gladly wear. If this style of rose is up your alley, definitely give Mysterious Rose a try.
