I had high hopes for this release and while it’s interesting, it’s not an easy one to wear for me personally.
Straight from the opening I get a strong milky quality in Elite IV. With the tobacco and iris it gets a bit dry as well, but somehow this feels very lactonic to my nose. That milkiness, paired with the sweetness threw me off for a moment; kind of reminding me of condensed or even spoiled milk.
It does get better however, as it becomes more dry, it becomes an interesting mix of sandalwood, incense and honey to my nose. I can’t say I detect the rose much, nor the scent of the iris. The tobacco slowly comes through, but it’s not really overpowering the composition.
Hay is listed and you definitely get that honeyed hay vibe that I mostly know from some of the Francesca Bianchi fragrances and Serge Lutens Chergui, however I think Elite IV is more milky smooth.
I’ll have to wear it more to know if I like it or not. There’s moment that I definitely did, but the opening caught me off guard and I initially didn’t appreciate it.
