Eau Noire was first released in 2004 as part of the Colognes collection curated by creative director Hedi Slimane. It was re-released in 2022, by the original perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, who had become the in-house perfumer for Dior in that year.
In the 2022 formulation, the iconic green color of the liquid was removed.
